The layer 7 filtering is built right into the firmware and ensures that your roommates' downloading of anime doesn't interfere with your Skype calls. I've used this firsthand and capping the total download speed in combination with the QoS priority does what's intended.

In addition, it's also worthwhile to set Skype and Xbox Live traffic to Premium status, since those services are definitely time sensitive and impacted by QoS to a fair degree.</description>
